The Sulaimani Forum for Diabetes, Organized by Qaiwan International University and Anwar Sheikha Medical City, is a pivotal component of a month-long diabetes awareness initiative, under the supervision of the Sulaimani General Directorate of Health. 
Dr. Taha Mahwi (the Head of the Sulaimani Diabetes Center) drew attention to the alarming surge in diabetes cases in Sulaimani, stressing its detrimental effects on public health.

Governor Dr. Haval Abubakr commended Sulaimani's robust health infrastructure and extended congratulations to the organizers, while Dr. Rahel Faraidoon (the Deputy Minister of Health) lauded Sulaimani's initiative and culture, characterizing the forum as a significant undertaking aligned with the city's ethos.

In this forum, health experts addressed the escalating diabetes rates in the Kurdistan Region, reporting a 6% increase. Specialists like Dr. Tara Ali Baban and Dr. Khalid Hama Saleh highlighted the growing prevalence of diabetes among children. 
The experts consistently emphasized the pivotal role of exercise and a healthy diet in averting obesity and diabetes.
