ACADEMIC STANDING

  • The Performance of students is evaluated based on TWO (2) measurements which are grade point average (GPA) and Cumulative grade average (CGPA) which are as follows:

  • The academic standing of a student at the end of every regular semester is based on the CGPA as shown in Table 8.

Probation Status (KS)

1.70 ≤ CGPA < 2.00

Fail Status (KG) (Study Terminated)

CGPA < 1.70


  • Students who obtained GPA <1.00 but CGPA ≥ 1.70 can continue their studies. However, the Senate may;

  • defer the student’s education to the next semester; or

  • give Failed Status (KG) and students education will be terminated.

  • Students who obtained good status (KB) and have fulfilled the admission requirement and course of study but did not apply for award of degree will be given good status (Programming Completed) KB (TK).

  • Students who have THREE (3) probation Status [KS] continuously will be given the failed status [KG] and the students will be terminated from programme of study.

  • Students who have used up the maximum duration of their study but have not fulfilled the requirement for an award will be given the failed status [KG] and the student will be terminated from the programme of study.

  • The academic standing of a student for the short semester will not be accounted for. The grade obtained in that semester  will be taken into account for the calculation of the CGPA in semester 1 of the following session.

  • The acadmic standing of a student who enrolls in the student mobility programme outside UTM with student mobility incomplete status [KM] will not be counted for that semester. The grade obtained in that semester will be counted for CGPA in the following semester.

  • Students may be given a temporary academic standing if they do not meet the requirement of the university as stated in table Table 9.

 

Status

Description

KB(TK)

Students who obtained good status and pass all courses required in the programme of study but have not applied for the award of degree.

 

KB(PSC)

Students who obtained good status and pass all courses required in the programme of study but have not met the PSC requirement.

 

TS

There are no final exam/ evaluation marks in at least one course and it should be completed in the current semester.

TS(KM)

There’re no marks because students follow the mobility program and the course need to be completed in the current semester or in the following regular semester.
