Contact Hours

Meeting hours are time for teaching and learning that include these components:

Official meeting hours through lectures (scheduled lectures) every week for fourteen (14) weeks of learning;

and/or

Online learning hours;

and/or

Activity hours for scheduled/guided learning such as:

  • seminars
  • tutorials/exercises
  • laboratory work
  • fieldwork
  • studio/kitchen/workshop work
  • project work

every week for fourteen (14) weeks, where students are supervised by the university/industry as they complete tasks in the scheduled period;

and/or

Industrial training week/work-based learning;

and/or

Teaching practice week

and/or

  • A combination of any of the above components to form students’ learning hours parallel to forty (40) nominal credit hours every semester to make the academic weightage equivalent to one (1) credit unit.
  • A minimum of 90 credit units is the condition to fulfil the requirements of being awarded a Diploma and a minimum of 120 credit units is the condition to fulfil the requirements of being awarded a bachelor’s degree.
  • For programmes that require recognition from Professional Bodies, the number of Credit Units depends on the requirement set by the Professional Body.
