CREDIT EXEMPTION AND CREDIT TRANSFER

Credit exemption

Credit exemption is the transfer of credits without marks or/and grades vertically from the lowest to the highest level of study not exceeding 30%   of the total credit of an ongoing academic programme.

Credit Transfer

Credit transfer is the transfer of credits with marks or/and grades horizontally from the same level of study without credit limit to be transferred to the ongoing education programme. 

Credit Exemption/Credit Transfer Terms

The application for credit exemption/transfer of credits can be submitted once the terms below have been fulfilled:

a) Achieved a minimum of C grade or 2.00 grade point

b) Similar/equivalent course credit unit.

c) Course curriculum equivalence is no less than 80%.

d) Transferred courses must be from programmes that are recognised/accredited.

  •  Students who completed any study programmes/UiTM programmes/other university programmes are eligible for credit exemption/credit transfer.
  • Students who failed/did not complete/were expelled from any academic programmes/other university programmes are not eligible to apply for credit exemption/credit transfer.
  • Students who have quit/were dismissed from any academic programmes/UiTM programmes/other university programmes for other than academic reasons within less than five (5) years, are eligible to apply for credit exemption and will be reviewed by the College of Studies/Faculty/Academic Centre/UiTM Branches subjected to Clause 2.5.3.
  • For students from other universities who apply for a change in a programme within the same field as the ongoing programme, the transferring of credits is subject to the terms of the students’ residency at the University according to the level of study:

a) Bachelor’s Degree - a minimum of two (2) semesters.

b) Diploma/Certificate - a minimum of one (1) semester.

   Credit Exemption Procedures

  • The application for credit exemption can be made after fulfilling the following:
  • The application for credit exemption must be done only once within the study period and only during the first semester of study by filling out the Credit Exemption Form.
  • The credit exemption application form must be forwarded to the College of Studies/Faculty/Academic Centre/UiTM Branches within 14 days from the official date of student registration.
  • The total credit unit which is being given an exemption and is recognised as meeting the credit requirements for the study programmes, grades and course grade points will not be counted for generating GPA and CGPA.
  • The approval for credit exemption will be reviewed by JAKP/JAF/JAN/JAI.
  • The result of the credit exemption application will be notified at the latest 28 working days after the official date of registration.

Credit Transfer Procedures

The application for credit transfer can be made after fulfilling the  following:

  • Students who are undergoing mobility or exchange programmes between universities/industries are required to achieve an HPNG of at least 3.00, register for courses offered and settle the tuition fees/maintain the status as an active student during the current semester.
  • The application for Credit Transfer can be done by submitting the Credit Transfer Form.
  • The attained credit unit, grades and course grade points will be counted for generating GPA and CGPA marks.
  • The approval for credit transfer will be reviewed by JAKP/JAF/JAN/JAI which administers the particular course. 
  • The application for credit transfer/exemption for PLK  students will be charged an amount of RM100.00.
