Qaiwan International University (QIU) was established in 2018 in Sulaimanyah, Kurdistan
Region of Iraq. It was initially established as a franchise of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia
(UTM), aiming to provide local students with access to international education without the
need to study abroad, thereby reducing the financial burden on students and their families.
Later in 2022, QIU expanded its offerings by introducing additional programs franchised by
Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), further diversifying its educational portfolio.
Short Semesters are offered to students based on the structure of the programme of the approved academic study plan.
Lecture and examination weeks are conducted simultaneously with the Intersession Semester.
The component of the students’ academic semester for Short Semesters is equivalent to the component of their previous academic semester.
The total number of registered courses follows the student’s study plan.
The Short Semester examinations can only be sat by students who have registered and paid the fees.
The Short Semester fee is RM200.00 for each course.
The academic status of students offered to do the Short Semester follows the rules set for students offered the Intersession Semester under Clause 2.27.
